The Prince’s Magic Revealed a Betrayal Hidden for Twenty Years

PART 1 — The Magic Beneath the Crown

Prince Adrian had been taught one rule since childhood: never touch the black crystal beneath the throne.

It was an ancient relic, buried beneath the royal palace after the War of Ashes. The royal family claimed it was cursed. Adrian's father, King Edric, called it a monument to the kingdom's darkest hour.

But on the night of Adrian's twentieth birthday, the crystal began to whisper his name.

He followed the sound through the empty throne room, guided by a strange blue light glowing beneath the stone floor. When his fingers touched the crystal, the palace vanished.

Adrian saw a memory.

Twenty years earlier, his father stood in the same throne room, holding a newborn baby. Beside him stood Queen Elara, younger and terrified. And behind them was Lord Veyran, the king's most trusted adviser.

Veyran was kneeling before a wounded soldier.

“The prince must die,” the adviser whispered.

Adrian's breath caught.

Then the memory changed.

Veyran placed a glowing dagger against the infant's chest—but Queen Elara stepped between them. A spell exploded through the room. The crystal shattered, and the memory ended.

Adrian stumbled backward.

“That isn't possible.”

A voice answered from the darkness.

“You finally saw it.”

His mother stepped into the moonlight.

Queen Elara looked older than the woman in the memory, but Adrian recognized the fear in her eyes.

“Mother… what happened twenty years ago?”

She said nothing.

Adrian's magic suddenly flared. Blue fire raced across his hands, revealing hidden symbols carved into the throne.

His mother turned pale.

“Your magic was supposed to remain asleep.”

“Why?” Adrian demanded.

Before she could answer, the palace bells began ringing.

Lord Veyran entered the throne room surrounded by armed guards.

He smiled calmly.

“Because, Your Highness,” he said, “your magic remembers what everyone else was ordered to forget.”

PART 2 — The Betrayal Behind the Throne

The guards raised their swords, but Adrian's magic moved first.

A wave of blue light burst from his body, freezing every blade in midair. The soldiers stared at him in terror.

Veyran did not move.

“Twenty years ago,” Adrian said, “you tried to kill me.”

“No,” Veyran replied. “I tried to prevent a war.”

He revealed the truth.

Adrian had not been born with ordinary royal magic. His blood carried the ancient power of the kingdom's first kings—the ability to reveal memories hidden inside magical objects.

Veyran had discovered the power before Adrian was born. He feared that one day the prince would uncover the secret behind the War of Ashes.

The war had never begun because of an invading kingdom.

It had been engineered from inside the palace.

Veyran had secretly ordered attacks on villages and blamed them on a neighboring realm. King Edric, believing the reports, declared war. Thousands died.

But Queen Elara discovered the truth.

She confronted Veyran on the night Adrian was born.

“Your father wanted to expose him,” Veyran said. “But I stopped him.”

Adrian stared at his mother.

“Where is my father?”

Silence filled the throne room.

Queen Elara finally whispered, “He has been imprisoned beneath the palace for twenty years.”

Adrian's heart shattered.

His father had not died in battle as the kingdom believed.

He had been kept alive, hidden beneath the throne, while Veyran ruled through fear.

Adrian's magic erupted.

The crystal beneath the throne cracked open, releasing twenty years of stolen memories. Images flooded the palace walls—secret orders, murdered messengers, forged letters, and Veyran standing behind every betrayal.

The guards lowered their swords.

One by one, they saw the truth.

Veyran's smile disappeared.

“You think truth makes you powerful?” he hissed. “Truth destroys kingdoms.”

Adrian stepped toward him.

“Then let the kingdom finally be destroyed by the truth.”

With one final burst of magic, the hidden prison opened.

King Edric emerged, weakened but alive.

For the first time in twenty years, father and son stood face to face.

Edric reached for Adrian's hand.

“I always knew you would find me.”

Adrian looked toward the throne.

He realized the kingdom did not need another king who buried its secrets.

It needed one who would never be afraid to uncover them.

By sunrise, Lord Veyran was imprisoned, the truth of the war was revealed, and the kingdom began mourning the dead whose names had been erased from history.

And beneath the throne, the ancient crystal remained glowing.

Adrian never touched it again.

He no longer needed its magic.

He had learned something far more dangerous than any spell: the truth can sleep for twenty years, but it never truly dies.
