No one dared enter the throne room after sunset.

Not because of ghosts.

Not because of curses.

But because beneath the black marble floor slept a dragon older than the kingdom itself.

For four hundred years, it had never moved.

The people believed it was nothing more than a legend carved into stone.

They were wrong.

Princess Elara stood before the towering golden doors with one hand trembling on the ancient handle.

Behind her, the palace echoed with screams.

The king—her father—had been poisoned during the Harvest Feast.

The High Council blamed neighboring kingdoms.

The generals demanded war.

But Elara knew something felt wrong.

Someone inside these walls wanted the throne.

"Your Highness," whispered Captain Rowan. "We shouldn't be here."

"The answers are inside," Elara replied.

"Nobody has entered since your great-grandfather sealed it."

She looked at the enormous dragon crest engraved into the doors.

"Then it's time someone did."

The doors groaned open.

Dust drifted through pale beams of moonlight.

The throne room was larger than any cathedral.

Ancient banners hung untouched.

A silver throne stood alone beneath a cracked dome.

Everything seemed frozen in time.

Then...

The floor shook.

A low rumble rolled beneath their feet.

Rowan immediately drew his sword.

"Run!" he shouted.

But Elara couldn't move.

The dragon-shaped carvings across the floor began glowing with deep crimson light.

A heartbeat echoed through the chamber.

Once.

Twice.

Then the marble split apart.

Two enormous golden eyes slowly opened beneath the throne.

The dragon had awakened.

Its scales looked like polished obsidian.

Its horns scraped the ceiling as it slowly lifted its massive head.
