The Dragon Egg Hatched for the Girl Everyone Abandoned

PART 1 — The Prince Behind the Iron Gate

On the night the kingdom finally came for Prince Kael, every dragon in the northern mountains began to roar.

Kael heard them from his prison tower.

For seventeen years, the people of Valedorn had blamed him for every tragedy that touched their land. They called him the Cursed Prince. His mother had died giving birth to him. His father had lost the war against the neighboring kingdoms. Three years later, a terrible fire had destroyed half the capital.

Every disaster somehow became Kael’s fault.

So the king locked his own son inside an abandoned tower and told the kingdom that the prince would never rule.

Kael had stopped fighting the rumors long ago.

Then, just before midnight, he heard thousands of footsteps outside.

The tower doors exploded inward.

Captain Roran entered with a hundred soldiers, his sword already drawn.

“The kingdom has decided,” Roran said coldly. “Your life ends tonight.”

Kael slowly stood.

“And my father?”
“The king gave the order.”

Kael looked toward the narrow window. Beyond it, torches covered the streets like a sea of fire.

For the first time, he felt something worse than hatred.

He felt forgotten.

Then the sky turned black.

A shadow larger than the castle swept across the moon.

The soldiers froze.

A deafening roar shook the tower so violently that stones fell from the ceiling.

Something landed in the courtyard.

Kael reached the window.

Below him stood an enormous dragon covered in silver-black scales. Its wings were wide enough to hide the castle gates. Blue fire burned behind its eyes.

Captain Roran whispered:

“Impossible.”

The dragon lifted its head.

Then it looked directly at Kael.

For one strange moment, neither moved.

Kael expected the creature to attack.

Instead, the dragon spread its wings and placed itself between the tower and the soldiers.

Roran shouted:

“Kill the prince before the beast takes him!”

The first arrow flew.

The dragon caught it in its jaws.

Then it roared.

Blue flames erupted across the courtyard.

The soldiers fled in terror.

Kael stared at the creature protecting him.

He whispered:

“Why?”

The dragon lowered its head.

And from somewhere deep inside the castle, an ancient magical bell began to ring.

PART 2 — The Truth Beneath the Crown

The bell rang thirteen times.

With every sound, the castle walls glowed with ancient blue symbols.

Kael suddenly felt burning pain in his chest.

A mark appeared beneath his shirt—a dragon-shaped symbol he had carried since birth.

The dragon saw it.

Its eyes widened.

Then the creature lowered itself before Kael.

It was bowing.

Kael could barely breathe.

“You know me?” he whispered.

The dragon touched its enormous forehead against the stone floor.

Behind them, the castle doors opened.

King Aldren entered, surrounded by royal guards.

He looked at his son and then at the dragon.

His face turned pale.

“No,” the king whispered. “You cannot have returned.”

Kael stared at him.

“What are you talking about?”

The king said nothing.

Then an old royal historian stepped forward.

“Your Majesty,” he said, “the time has come.”

He revealed the truth.

Kael was not cursed.

He was the last descendant of the ancient Dragon Kings, rulers who had once protected Valedorn with the help of dragons.

The dragon before him was called Veyra—the kingdom’s oldest guardian.

Twenty years earlier, a prophecy had warned that Kael would unite humans and dragons again.

The king had been terrified.

He had hidden the truth and allowed his people to hate his own son.

But there was something worse.

The disasters blamed on Kael had never been caused by him.

They had been caused by the king’s war council, which secretly wanted control of the kingdom’s ancient dragon magic.

Captain Roran suddenly raised his sword.

“Enough!” he shouted. “The prince cannot be allowed to live.”

He lunged.

Veyra moved faster.

The dragon shielded Kael with one wing and released a blast of blue fire.

Roran’s sword shattered.

The captain fell to his knees.

Kael stepped forward.

He could have ordered the dragon to finish him.

Instead, Kael lowered his hand.

“No,” he said. “Let him live.”

The entire courtyard went silent.

The people watching from the streets had expected the hated prince to become a monster.

Instead, they saw him choose mercy.

King Aldren slowly removed his crown.

“I failed you,” he whispered.

Kael looked at his father for a long moment.

“You did,” he said. “But I will not become you.”

Veyra roared toward the heavens.

Across the mountains, hundreds of dragons answered.

For the first time in a thousand years, dragons descended upon Valedorn—not to destroy it, but to protect it.

And the prince everyone had hated walked beside their oldest guardian into the dawn.

By sunset, the people had given him a new name.

Not the Cursed Prince.

The Dragon Prince.

And from that day forward, no one in Valedorn ever dared forget the truth:

The kingdom had spent seventeen years fearing the boy who was destined to save it.

But when everyone abandoned him, a dragon remembered exactly who he was.
